When the old insulation has to come out.
Insulation that is stained, wet, compacted or contaminated has stopped doing its job, and it sits right over your rooms. Trapping and extermination are a licensed pest company's job; we come in after. We remove the old insulation with HEPA-filtered equipment, clean the attic, and rebuild it to the modern spec.
Book My InspectionWe scope the cleanup with photos before you commit to anything.
Contaminated insulation removal and attic restoration.
The cleanup and rebuild
- Full removal of contaminated or damaged insulation, bagged out with HEPA-filtered equipment
- Debris cleaned from the decking and framing
- New blown-in insulation to full depth, with depth markers and photos
Do I really have to replace the insulation?
If it's contaminated, usually yes, for two reasons. Stains and odor soak into loose insulation and don't come out, which is why removal happens with HEPA-filtered equipment instead of a broom. And compacted, tunneled or wet insulation has lost much of the R-value you're counting on. A contaminated attic is the one place we'll tell you material has to come out; everywhere else, we top up what you own.
What does the cleanup look like?
Contaminated insulation comes out with HEPA-filtered vacuum equipment, sealed in bags, and leaves your property the same day.
Debris comes off the decking and framing so the new insulation goes down on a clean deck.
Fresh blown-in insulation to full depth, with depth markers, even coverage, and finished photos, the same standard as every insulation job we do. It's also the right moment to seal the ceiling while the deck is bare.
The one upside of starting over.
A cleaned-out attic is a bare deck, and a bare deck is the cheapest moment you will ever have to do things right: every ceiling gap is visible and sealable, and the new insulation goes down at full, even, modern depth instead of over decades of compressed history. Most cleanup customers end up with a better attic than their neighbors who never had the problem.
How much does attic cleanup cost in Phoenix?
It depends on the attic's size and how much of the material is affected, which is what the free inspection scopes, with photos so you see exactly what we see. You get one flat quote covering removal, cleaning, and the rebuilt insulation before any work starts.
Before you book.
Is the old insulation actually a problem?
Contaminated insulation holds stains, odor and debris, and compacted or tunneled insulation has lost much of its insulating value. We remove it with HEPA-filtered equipment and bag it out rather than sweeping or blowing it around.
Can't you just blow new insulation over it?
Not over contaminated material. Covering it seals the mess and the odor into your attic permanently. This is the one case where removal comes first, and it's consistent with how we work everywhere else: clean deck, then depth.
How long does the whole job take?
Most attics take one to two days: removal and bag-out, cleaning, then fresh blown-in insulation with depth markers and photos, the same finish standard as any insulation job we do.
